The Rough Riders faced several tough sets against the Hornets on Tuesday, coming up short in final score of 5-14. The numbers, however, do not reflect how close of a match the varsity team actually played. It was tight the entire evening, with seven close matches that unfortunately leaned in Azle's favor, three of which resulted in tiebreakers. Two out of the three tiebreakers were won by Saginaw. According to the head coach, Margaret Phillips, both the boys and girls showed significant improvement in closing out tiebreakers and looks to take that growth in the direction of closing out close matches overall. "I am proud of how hard this team is working," she said, "and I look forward to observing continued improvement in their match play. They truly are a wonderful group of young men and women."
Next week, the Rough Riders once again take to their home court, facing off against Granbury in the closer of the fall season.
